To start using Dapps, connect your wallet address and get some initial ‘gas’ ETH for interacting with smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. This guide will show you how to obtain initial ETH from a ‘Faucet’ for the Goerli test net.
- Visit a Goerli faucet website, such as https://goerlifaucet.com, which is a popular choice.
- This faucet requires an Alchemy account, so click the ‘Signup for free here’ link to create one.
Here’s a signup page. We’ll show the login process using ‘Sign in with Google’
Typically, you’ll be asked to complete a verification process to prove you’re human, which helps prevent bots from abusing the service.
Once you’ve passed the verification, you’ll be prompted to complete a survey from Alchemy.
If you’re uncertain about which plan to choose, opt for a free plan to get started.
Once the survey is completed, your account is connected to the site and ready to claim Goerli ETH.
Open the MetaMask wallet to copy your wallet address.
Paste your address into the given field.
Check ‘I’m not a robot’ and click ‘Send Me ETH’
This screen shows up and you are now receiving Goerli ETH.
It’s done, and your transaction is recorded. Note that this faucet is available only once per day.
Now you can see that you’ve successfully received 0.1 Goerli ETH! You are ready to interact with the blockchain.
If you’re looking for alternative faucets, the Goerli PoW Faucet is an option. However, be aware that it requires computational power from your machine.
