Unveiling the Power of Historical Charts on Secured Finance

Charting the Course: Secured Finance’s New Features And Product Updates

--

We’re thrilled to announce that one of our most anticipated updates, the Historical Charts, is now live.

This addition marks a significant milestone in our commitment to providing users with comprehensive insights into price movements over time. While the historical chart is now available, our work on upgrading our design system remains an ongoing process, aimed at further refining the user experience.

Implementing the Historical Chart

Historical Bond Price

At Secured Finance, we’re committed to providing our users with rich, actionable data to empower their decision-making process. In recognising the need for robust information, we’ve taken a strategic step to introduce a historical bond price chart.

Candlestick Chart with 5min to 1month window

This feature isn’t just about visualising bond prices over time; it’s about equipping our users with a deeper understanding of market dynamics unique to bond trading. Unlike currency prices, bond prices have distinct characteristics. Bonds are valued between 0 and 100, and they guarantee a price of 100 at maturity, leading to a converging trend over time in historical bond price charts due to the inherent principles of bond valuation.

By integrating trade price data across various intervals, ranging from 5 minutes to 1 month, we empower traders to customise their analysis and adapt to the specific nuances of bond trading. This capability not only enhances user flexibility but also facilitates more informed decision-making for users.

TradingView

We’ve built our historical chart using the lightweight-charts library by TradingView, a robust tool known for its reliability and flexibility. This library allowed us to seamlessly integrate advanced charting features into our platform, ensuring a user-friendly experience.

Subgraph

Behind the scenes, our platform retrieves essential data from our subgraph, capturing key information on bond prices and trade volumes across different time intervals. This data is then dynamically displayed on the Historical Chart, providing users with real-time insights into market trends and price movements. By combining powerful data retrieval mechanisms with intuitive visualisation tools, we’ve built a solution that enables users to make informed decisions confidently.

Upcoming: Implementation of Mobile UI

As we move towards implementation of a design system library and mobile UI, one of the other key priorities will be to make the mobile UI for OTC Lending even more compact, ensuring that traders will be able to perform most actions within the above-the-fold section. Below is an example of how the mobile UI will look like after implementing all the changes:

Upcoming new look for mobile UI

The order ticket component will be matched with the orderbook length on the right. The spacing between elements will be tightened and inputs will also be revamped to show immediate feedback. Scrolling down, users will be able to see their position cards easily without horizontal scrolling. The trade detail section can be easily toggled across 3/4 tabs.

First Design System, Then Mobile UI

Secured Finance’s product strategy has been redirected towards first aligning all global components in order to unify branding, then allowing new Web3 users to access lending/borrowing easily by optimising our mobile UI experience. Following that, product development may even follow a mobile-first philosophy. By setting the stage for the second stage of product development, Secured Finance aims to now build the context for more users to easily lend and borrow their Web3 assets.
