The India-based online travel platform MakeMyTrip has announced that they have released a limited-edition collection of digital artwork NFTs. The NFT collection, as the company said, shows the popular and less visited tourist attractions of the nation to serve as a commemoration. According to the firm, the collection makes it possible for an avid traveler to own a piece of unique artwork of their favorite travel destination in India. The first batch of the artwork NFTs contains the landscapes of Goa, Ladakh, Orissa, Himachal, Kashmir, Kerala, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, and Andamans in them.

The company also said that the artworks had been made using an advanced artificial intelligence technology known as Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs). This tool creates a realistic image from multiple images after training it. An online community of digital artists, AI Bots, has made these artworks a reality.

These artwork NFTs are minted (or created) on the Polygon blockchain, a chain that runs on the Ethereum blockchain network. The NFT collection would be up for sale on NgageN, an NFT store from the blockchain developer KoineArth’s.

The NFT collection can be accessed from both the website and app of MakeMyTrip. The company has 25 NFT artworks for every collection, and the price for each of them is fixed at ₹14,999. The tokens are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

According to Sunil Suresh, the Chief Marketing Officer of MakeMyTrip, “The NFTs are a confluence of new-age technology with the world of travel as it captures the beauty of some of the exotic locations of India. We are offering travel enthusiasts a never before chance to be owners of this beauty in the digital domain.”

“With the launch of their NFTs, Indians around the world can digitally own the beauty of India, make it part of their personal legacy and even gift it to their loved ones. The artwork of NFTs are a great example of how brands-with-a-purpose are working with digital artists to create art that captures their spirit,” said Praphul Chandra, founder of KoineArth’s.

MakeMyTrip has also made it clear that all the proceedings from the sale of this limited edition NFTs would be contributed to support projects that promote sustainable tourism in India.
