1–800-GOT-JUNK, In-The-Bin, JUST JUNK, and the many others do one thing — take your junk to the dump — but if you have a bunch of junk make sure to be smart as this might be easiest $200 you save in your life.

So here’s the deal. You have a bunch of junk and you are stressing out because you just want it out of your house and out of life. I get it, take a couple deep breathes and read this because being a little tactical will end up saving you a couple hundred dollars or more. And $200 is a hell-of-a-good night out, or a lot of diapers or… you get the point.

So, here’s the thing all junk removal companies have the same operating costs: marketing, wages, dump costs, truck and travel costs, and taxes. Thus, although some companies have slightly better service then others, generally they are all pretty similar in performance but not always in price. In essence, all they do is pick up your junk, drop it off at the dump and take your money. It’s not exactly rocket science. However, the prices they charge you might make you think it was. One truck load of junk can be $600 and if you have heavy materials like glass, bricks and sand then it won’t be long before your bill gets into the thousands.

So, how can you save money on getting your junk to the dump? It’s simple, it’s called take your purchasing power into your own hands. Yes, this means getting multiple quotes and having them bid for your money. “Show me the money Jerry!!!”.

Ok, if your only getting rid of a single TV than just call a few places and get the best price but for larger junk removal needs, the junk companies are going to have to come to your place to see your junk to give you a quote based on how much junk you have. As the price to remove you junk is basically a function of the amount of time it’s going to take for them to put your junk into their bin, the amount your junk weighs and the amount of margin they want to make from your job.

It’s really that simple. All you need to do is take a couple deep breathes and don’t fall into the trap of just calling one junk removal company out of laziness and frustration. Getting a few quotes and getting these companies to bid against each other is the surest way to instantly save $200 or more depending on the size of your job. Generally getting 3 of them to show up at the same time works best that way they will all bid against each other right in front of you.

How am I qualified to write this? Well, I actually used to work for 1–800-GOT-JUNK and I saw this work in action and I also saw the ridiculous prices people would pay just because they reached a point of extreme vulnerability by being stressed about their junk and just wanting to see it out of their lives. These people are instant prey for junkers and sadly are often significantly overcharged and then laughed about. It’s basically a micro version of the wolf of wallstreet played out without all the glam in a dump truck. So, I hope you take the time to get junkers to bid for your business because if you don’t you’ll easily pay more than you should. I hope this helped and treat your benjamins with some love.
