Today’s learning activities started with a course on Innovation and the key learnings that I gained from the course are listed below:

  1. Intelligence is the ability to respond to peoples emotion to produce result.
  2. Be curious.
  3. The more familiar we are with a situation the more we take it for granted and in the process miss the opportunity for insight and inspiration, never mind enjoyment.
  4. Try getting into the habit of stopping once a day to look at an action or an artefact as though you are a detective at a crime scene.
  5. Good entrepreneurs observe and you will be shocked how inspirational it is to look carefully.
  6. Record your observations and ideas visually.
  7. Being visual allows us to look at a problem quite differently.
  8. You don’t sell a product you sell yourself

The next course focused on how to prepare for meetings and handling objections. Immediately after the course we were suddenly informed that we will be embarking on a sales challenge . The goal of the sales challenge was to help sell as many things possible.

We were divided in two groups my group decided to go help bus aka danfo drivers get passengers into their buses. That eventually led us to the most bustling bus stop in Lagos called obalende.

So let the hustle begin!

A very satisfied bus driver with his fully loaded bus
Semi-retired Bus Conductors

After we were done we headed back to present our sales figures and findings. We were given some crucial feedback which I will highlight below.

  1. Test a lot of assumptions
  2. Listen to the market
  3. People don’t buy the same things for the same reason
  4. Team Work!

To cap a very interesting day Simeon Ononobi @ Simplepay came by and dropped some useful insights and advice especially for start-ups planning to enter the Nigerian fintech industry.
