We’ve been covering entrepreneurs and their startup stories from all over the world. Our latest talk is with Ryan Ozonian, who built CyberDust with Mark Cuban.

What are the challenges in building your product?

Creating a truly ephemeral platform is not easy. It is new territory that has not been done before. We are using new technologies and coding techniques to make sure content sent on our platform is truly not recoverable. Building for multiple platforms and having the app work across them is also a challenge.

Why did you decide to found this? How was that process?

Because naturally human communication is ephemeral. Nobody records every conversation you have so why should all of your digital conversations be stored somewhere? We cam to this realization when Mark Cuban was being sued by the SEC for insider trading and they subpoenaed all of his ext messages and emails and convoluted the meaning of them in court.

What is your status quo in terms of products, users, etc?

Cyber dust has been in the app stores for 9 months and already has over a million users. We are on Android and iOS and will soon be on windows and firefox platforms.

What are your future milestones, 6, 12 and 18 months down the road?

Our only milestone is to continue growing our user base. We want to get to 10 million users in the next 12 months.

Who makes up the team behind Cyber Dust?

Billionaire entrepreneur, Dallas mavericks owner and shark tank celebrity, Mark Cuban and myself, Ryan Ozonian.

What have you learned during this time?

That privacy is hard to come by these days. People are starting to take back control of their personal information. They are realizing that what they say needs to be protected. We are helping them get there.
