Affinity Diagram

Affinity Diagram

Following the user testing phase, I synthesized the findings through creating an affinity diagram of the various comments and feedback that I received from the participants. From these comments I was able to form them into individual themes that began to take shape:

Ergonomics: Comments on the ergonomics of the wearable were positive, however there were suggestions on how to make it more comfortable to wear, and more sturdy on the user’s bodies.

Wearable Features: Features of the wearable were well received with a lot of information on personal preferences, pros/cons, extra considerations and possibly areas to focus more heavily on.

App UI Features: The app features were all positively received by the participants, however there were doubts about some features being difficult to implement.

App Usability: Overall comments about the UI including hierarchy, organizing elements on a screen and optimizing the space for efficiency.

These themes were the overarching themes that emerged through synthesizing the results, however they may be broken down into small sub themes to narrow down the scope and provide feasible areas for improvement. The affinity diagram was very useful in providing an overview of the results from testing and to highlight areas where more improvement or development is needed as well as areas that succeeded.

Next Steps

From here, a PDS (product design specification) document will be generated to decisively describe what the end product will be, how it will function, and how to ensure that the design and development of a product will meet the needs and requirements of the user. From there, various iterations will be developed to address the areas in the PDF and to explore what the end product will look like physically (and digitally).
