I make it a point to spend some time in prayer every day. I must admit that I am not always consistent with this. Still I try.

I’ve learned several years ago to follow the ACTSS format when praying. ACTSS stands for:

A — Adoration (Worship)

C — Contrition (Saying Sorry)

T — Thanksgiving

S — Supplication (Asking for Stuff)

S — Silence (Listening to God)

Lately, I have not been spending as much time in the adoration or worship. I can think of a number of excuses for this but none of them are probably valid.

Thankfully, the Lord decided to help me out with this…

You see, I lost my work badge 3 weeks ago and it has made life a little difficult for me. Normally, I would use my badge (which has built-in RFID) to log in to the computers at work. Since I didn’t have the badge, I’ve been needing to type my 100-character password each time I see a patient.

Tired of having to do this, I decided to finally get a new badge. I procrastinated because I had to go to Duke Hospital which is in Durham. Typically, traffic is slow and it is hard to find parking.

This morning, I decided to make the trip to Durham. Because I had the morning off, I could leave home at any time. I decided to leave at 8:45 am thinking I would miss the morning rush hour.

It turned out I didn’t. As soon as I hit US 147, I ran into traffic. Waze (the navigation app) announced, “estimated time in traffic, 10 minutes”.

Before I left home, I set my radio to play from my playlist of worship songs. As soon as I hit traffic, one of my favorite songs started playing and I sang along.

I then realized that the Lord allowed me to experience traffic so I can spend some time singing worship songs! He knew I was yearning for this.

It is good to live life knowing that if we offer up everything to God, he will guide us. He will direct the events in our life for our good.

Romans 8:28 says “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him”.

If we look at events this way, then there will be no such things as “good events” or “bad events”.

All events will be opportunities to grow in our relationship with the Lord.
