The key to SEEK’s ability to create a real relationship with every candidate in Australia and NZ is making sure we have enough information about each candidate on which to build that relationship. Today I’m thrilled to announce that we have hit 5 million searchable SEEK Profiles across Australia and New Zealand!
SEEK Profiles are a snapshot of key information provided by candidates and include work history, skills and qualifications, salary expectations and availability. When a Candidate creates a SEEK Profile it gives them the ability to pre-fill application forms, get new opportunities emailed daily, and also to be contacted occasionally by employers with opportunities based on their skills and career ambitions.
Our journey to this milestone started in November 2010 when we launched a feature we called Jobseeker Profiles. Today this feature is barely comparable to the model which we originally launched to market thanks to a huge amount of work put into:
- improving the back-end functionality
- designing an incredible user-experience
- implementing sophisticated search technology
- utilising marketing to engage and drive profile adoption
- supporting candidates in creating and managing their profiles.
Pretty soon 10K candidates per month were creating their own SEEK profile — but we still had a long way to go to create a real relationship with every candidate. Since then, the numbers have continued to double every year until now, when 140K candidates per month are creating profiles.
It started pretty slowly, and to now be celebrating 5 million searchable profiles, is an incredible demonstration of perseverance, team work, passion and striving for continuous improvement. It reminds me of the stories of the early days of SEEK, where we had clear goals to be #1 in job ads, where we focused on those goals, and innovated to get all the ads for our candidates and “found a way” whatever it took.
The rate of growth has really accelerated as we collaborate across the business to match more people with job opportunities than any other organisation in each market in which we operate. I’m immensely proud of the efforts from across the business in contributing to this fantastic milestone, which provides a significantly improved experience for our candidates and a more effective sourcing tool for our hirers.
