My Users Translated My App Into 9 Different Languages
Growth Hacking Story for developers who don't have much budget
It was an enlightenment for me when I translated my app into German for the first time. I saw that huge increase in downloads from Germany just a couple of days later. I don’t know how to speak German. I used Google Translate for the first translation.
A couple of my users were asking me about translation and they were sending me emails for a translation into their mother languages. Then something interesting happened, I replied to them with a request for their help on translation. Conversations were going amazing, almost all of them accepted my request and translated my app into their own mother languages for free! I knew that it was not the price, I gave all the premium features to all of them as a gift in the end.
Now, I have 9 different languages in my app thanks to my precious users. As you will see, my top users are from the countries that speak the languages I translated my app into. Here is the result:
The languages missing from the conversations below were translated by people who approached me in person. Because of that, I have no conversation history with them like others. I want to share how those conversations were like for each language:
Russian
I have a page within the app, that provides a contact form for users to let them submit their requests from me. Some of the conversations started with that form like this one:
Spanish
Franch
Portuguese
Ukrainian
Dutch
