On August 10, the full edition of Seele’s first cryptology Yellow Paper ‘Multiple Elliptic Curves Digital Signature Algorithm’ was officially published. This Yellow Paper is the first one which proposed MECDSA (Multiple Elliptic Curves Digital Signature Algorithm) world-widely, which will solve the problems of particular elliptic curves’ backdoors and loopholes, and be able to set dynamic signatures for different security requirements. This Yellow Paper optimized the typical multiple signature mechanism, decreased the data transfer volume of multiple elliptic curves digital signature, and provided alternative elliptic curves’ parameters.

This Yellow Paper is devoted to resolving the security risks of single elliptic curve through employing MECDSA. Through the number of elliptic curves and the dynamic adjustment of 6 parameters, it realized the dynamic signature mechanism which is applicable to different scenarios and security requirements, and strengthened the safety of Seele’s public chain. Meanwhile, considering the confrontation and contradiction between safety and efficiency, Seele suggests choosing two standard elliptic curves of different regions/organizations.

Currently, most projects in the blockchain industry adopt the elliptic curves digital signature algorithm (ECDSA) on the secp256k1 curve (Satoshi Nakamoto’s choice in Bitcoin). What we propose this time is a approach based on the Multiple Elliptic Curves Digital Signature. Through increasing the number of elliptic curves, the security of digital signature could be improved significantly. In addition, this approach can be adopted in other fields besides the blockchain one.

Dr. Wei Bi, the Chief Scientist of Seele, explained that ‘the new signature algorithm and unique operating mechanism will provide a securer technical support for the launch of Seele’s mainnet. Seele will devote more into the R&D of the underlying technology and explore industrial use cases of the public chain’. From the latter part of August to the end of September, the yellow papers covering Neural network consensus algorithm, sPoW, and optimized network transmission will be successively published in research domains like consensus algorithm, network structure and distributed system.

On August 9 (EST), Seele’s Yellow Paper Seele: A Secure Multiple Elloptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm for Blockchain in the field of cryptography was submitted to the global preprint archive arXiv.org for publication, and subsequently the full text was published in our official website Seele.pro. Founded in August 1991, arXiv.org is an electronic archive, and funded by the National Science Foundation and United States Department of Energy. Established by Los Alamos National Laboratory, arXiv.org is maintained and operated by the Cornell University Library at present. More than 500,000 papers are covered and available in the areas of mathematics, physics and computer science.
