Emotions are essentially energy in motion. Society today has taught us that only some emotions are good and some are bad, but all emotions are just -energy-.

The importance of emotional self care is tremendous. Letting go of feelings that bring tension and burden help create a standpoint at which your mind can grow. Gaining new perspectives of situations can help calm your own thoughts.

More often than not being called emotional is seen as a bad thing, however the process at which some take to get there can affect how people around them perceive not only their own but emotions in general. Keeping thoughts to yourself when going through hard times can create great tension that builds up and makes life harder and your thoughts more complicated. Trying to hide your feelings or thoughts from yourself of others also creates additional tension that is not necessary.

Emotional self care can be a two-fold process :

  • Taking time to see what you are thinking and why you are thinking it
  • Cultivating your thoughts and figuring which ones nurture your well being and which don’t

These steps definitely don’t mean that you have to sit down and analyse every single one of your thoughts, it just means that maybe pay attention to your feelings at certain times — see what is affecting you the most.

Some “positive impressions” that can take effect on your life are :

  • Focussing attention on the present moment
  • Practicing gratitude
  • Exercising patiences over hurrying “have things done”
  • Practicing acceptance of what is already happening
