Social self care

  • Nurturing relationships with people outside of your immediate family. For women, friendships are actually critical to our quality of life. Research shows that friendships become especially important over time, because as we age, we face difficult challenges like sickness, divorce and the death of loved ones.

Some ways to practice social self care

  1. Start a compliments file
  • This can lead to more conversations with new people or can build off a previous relationship.

2. Unplug

  • By unplugging from technology you can engage in “the now” and be more focused on what is happening at that moment.

3. Get out of your comfort zone

  • Expanding the horizons of your comfort zone can create new opportunities for yourself and others.

By following the simple steps of social self care you can influence others into contributing as well. The influence you have on other people can also build up relationships from ways that groups of people look up to you.
