Since the first car was invented, the car brought us convenient to our life shortens distance and time take you to one place to another. While the car brings us benefits the vehicle also bring us adverse effect such as city congestion.

For this post I decided to do a site visit, that is our school parking lots, and also I just visited any place in the city’s street. For a student in UB, It is hard to find a parking spot in a near and popular lot. From Monday to Friday, after 10 am to noon, it is the most dreadful time to find a parking spot in Jarvis lot. It could take 5 minutes to up to 20 minutes; our time saved because of cars, our time is also wasted on our car trying to park a vehicle, also To park, we lost more space.

To find free on-street parking in the city, it takes about 3.5 minutes to 14 minutes, which this action would cause lousy traffic congestion in the city. That car totally shortens our distance between people and people, place to place. also creating a lot of adverse effect such as:

  • Increasing traffic density
  • Blocking the traffics
  • Cause accidents
  • Waste fuel
  • Pollution
  • Destroy the walking environment

In general, cars are parked somewhere for more than half their use time; There are a lot place used for parking lots, which could build parks, laboratory, facilities if we have driverless cars. With driverless cars, we could save more spot, and to effectively use the land to make the community more lively and collaborative. While also creating new job opportunities that the new facilities build brought.

In conclusion, I am looking forward to the benefit that driverless cars would bring to the city planning, make our community more lively and make use of land more efficiently.
