Response to “Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Work Environment”
As the pace of our technological advancement accelerates, these techniques such as AI, and driverless cars, are more exposed to our eyes. If we talking about the self-driving car and AI, we are relating to high-tech, automation, and computerized. Few would relate driverless car to a safe, trustful, and reliable driver. Mechanisms must be in place to address issues such as their ability to drive, and some exterior problem like hacking and some moral issue of the self-driving car, Questions comes to my mind, are these AI really trustful?
For the question about driverless car’s driving ability and performance, their ability to drive will higher than the human also would be safer, since human error is addressed as the main cause of the most accident that could be eliminated by the driverless cars. Also driverless car will obey the traffic laws for hundred percent of the time.
Never underestimate the learning ability of the machines and programs, one quote from “Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Work Environment”, Talks about the speed that programs learns, that is way faster than humans do, “Major difference is that computers can learn faster (due to the exponential increase in computational power), and they have virtually no limitation on how much they can learn”(Ng, 2018), at this speed of learning, although at present AI could be still have flaws, but they are always learning, they need time to get things right. And to build their trust, Just as it is in people, trust in AI systems will have to be earned over time
