Flying Cars

By now Peter Thiel’s quip has become a Silicon Valley mantra: “We were promised flying cars, what we got was 140 characters.”

The flying cars made the news today.

Bloomberg has a huge scoop of a report, covering three different flying car companies — Zee, Kitty Hawk, and Joby Aviation.

The former two companies are both backed by Larry Page, apparently in competition with each other. Bloomberg has details on all the weirdness and awesomeness that comes along with that connection.

All three companies seem a long way from selling a product to the public, and there is only glancing speculation to how autonomous technology might affect these vehicles. But the designs look awesome.
