Can you even imagine an autonomous driven motorbike?

Technically it will be feasible, but will there be fun? Will there be an advantage over cars, as there is today?

Autonomous cars will connect to each other. Each car will know what to expect from nearby vehicles. This will allow a reduction in distance between cars.

On the other hand, vehicles that are unpredictable will cause chaos. A motorbike, driven by a human, is such an object. The conclusion: we need autonomous motorbikes.

However, driving an autonomous motorbike is as much fun as riding a pony in a circle. And there is also no longer an advantage over cars, since autonomous motorbikes queue into traffic as any other vehicle does. Passing a traffic jam is not longer possible. So why should we use autonomic motorbikes?

Will autonomous cars kill motorbikes?

I don’t think so. Indeed, motorbikes and autonomous cars will not be able to coexist on public roads with heavy traffic, like motorways and cities. Therefore, I expect that motorbikes will be banned from such roads.

But there will be enough space on less used roads. Maybe scenic byways will become the El Dorado of bikers. Large parking lots at the entry points of the byways will allow bikers to deliver their motorbikes with autonomous vans. Restaurants and hotels along the byways will allow bikers to rest and stay overnight. An autonomous van will pick up the biker and his motorbike when the trip is over.
