People with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) always doubt themselves. It is almost impossible to get out of that vicious cycle of rituals without reassurance from others.

People with OCD also tend to go towards perfectionism. If they force to realize their brain that errors and imperfections are part and parcel of life, they will not be scared after all.

How can we train our brains to get out of this vicious self-doubt cycle?

It helps if we focus on outcomes instead of rituals. If you think or imagine the worst-case scenario or possibility, this will make you realize that your obsessions are meaningless. Train your brain to drive all your self-doubt and fears away.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and self-doubt lead to an exaggeration of fearful thoughts or consequences in your mind. Still, when you force your brain to think about the worst possible outcome, then you realize that these outcomes are not so terrible after all.

Assuming or visualizing the worst outcome will be very scary at first, but if you do this process regularly, your brain will understand that these worst outcomes are amplified manifold.

Ask yourself what will happen if I do not wash my hand? Can my life be more miserable than what it is today if I do not perform this ritual?

This process will make you realize that nothing worst can happen then getting stuck forever with your self-doubt.

This technique works as it makes you realize that obsessions are an exaggeration of concerns and worries that most normal people have.

Try this simple exercise to get out of your self-doubt. Assume that today is your last day, and you are dying tomorrow morning. Will you still worry or think about OCD rituals?

When you force yourself to think about the worst possible outcomes, your fear will go away, and you will learn to focus on more meaningful things.

Love yourself with your imperfections and focus on the things which matter the most. Spend more time with your friends and family. Listen to your favorite song. Life is too short, and it is not worth it to spend your time doing those stupid rituals.

Finally, it is your desire and will power that will decide whether you’ll succeed in overcoming your self-doubt.

Remember, it’s difficult, but it isn’t impossible.
