From Hustle To Harmony: My 30-Day “Soft Life” Experiment
A journey into ease and well-being.
Besides being full of holidays and family fall birthdays, November and December are always packed with obligations and duties that can often leave me feeling stressed and exhausted. I usually try to focus on the fun parts of the winter holidays (Lights! Snow? Decorations! Shopping for and wrapping presents!) to carry me through. Otherwise, it’s a jam-packed few months of this or that family get-together, dreary dreadful gray and rainy weather, waking up and going to work while it’s dark…and not returning home until it’s dark again, and endless baking, boxing, and filling orders at the bakery. Whew. Just writing about it makes me glad I have 10 more months until I have to face that again.
This past December, I came home exhausted from work (and an hour and 40 minutes of bumper-to-bumper gridlock traffic) one evening and I was out of words. I had used them all during the day, my throat was scratchy and dry and sore, and I just needed to zone out. My partner and I snuggled up side by side scrolling our respective TikToks for an hour and I stumbled across a creator who talked about the “Soft Life” and what it meant to her. (Thank you TikTok algorithm! I wish I could recall the creator’s name to thank her.)
