Today was the last day of the development of my self-motivation skill. I will always be improving, however today is the last day I will document my results. I believe this process was a success. I became both intrinsically and extrinsically motivated for different tasks throughout the week. Both types are important because it is unlikely that a person can be acting with only one. Usually, both types are interacting as people have many and different motives. I have become more efficient and I have improved my overall productivity. Things have become easier to accomplish and I have been inspired to achieve any goal that I set for myself. Becoming more of a self-motivator has allowed me to enhance every aspect of my life since it impacts my job, my education, my social life, etc.

When developing a future skill one thing I might do differently is to consistently document my results for a longer period of time. This would be more beneficial because I could see growth over a longer period of time. In other words, I can reflectively write about my progress and see the changes from the beginning to end.

Self-motivation is considered a soft skill. The importance of soft skills is that “they complement to hard skills, which refer to a person’s knowledge and occupational skills”. Investopedia also describes a soft skill as difficult to acquire and change. This is because you are not born with these skills, but rather they become part of your personality. Hard skills can be learned and mastered with practice. In other words, hard skills are taught and soft skills are character traits. One would typically learn a hard skill from a book or in a classroom, while soft skills can be developed and are often harder to obtain.

I will continue practicing this skill because I know it well help me in everything I do.
