New year, new beginnings.

A new writing challenge for 2025.

Every month, I will post three Qs with writing ideas: one reflective and one creative prompt. Feel free to use them for fiction, nonfiction, or even poetry.

2025 Writing Challenge Rules:

• At least 100 words.
• Use Topic “Writing Magic 2025” to tag the post, so I can search for these posts.
• The prompts will be posted by the 5th of each month. Any response posted by the last day of that month, before 10 pm EST qualifies.
• Any format will do. Fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or a mix.
• No horror or erotica. If my conservative grandmother cannot read it, then it is not valid for this challenge.
• You can choose to participate for one month, all 12 months, or anything in between. The more, the better!
• You only need to answer one monthly prompt to be included in the challenge!
• Have fun!

Writing Challenge Winners:

• No monetary prize, but I will read each and every post. Callouts and linkbacks in a roundup post 2–3 days after the prompt is posted the next month.
• Special callouts to folks who participate in all 12 months.
• I usually try to read multiple articles by authors I like, so there is a chance that “reads” for your other stories will also increase. No promises, though.
• Joy of writing and building your Medium tribe.
