Step One: Book Your Vacation

Key to success: Pay for the flight before you quit

Most people would expect that the first step in this process would be to quit your job. Nope, they are wrong. Once you quit your job, you are going to question whether or not you should pay for that vacation. So get out of the way. Book your flight before you know you are going to quit to make sure that its locked in.

Step Two: Quit Your Job

Quitting ain’t easy

Resign from your position. Give notice. Do whatever you are supposed to do. Tell them, “Thank you for the opportunity but that you’ve decided to move on.” Mean it, wish it worked out differently, but hopefully, you are pursuing something else that matters to you. You’ll miss it, you liked your job, your team, but it was time to go.

Step Thee: Have a Contract or New Project to Complete During Your Vacation

Gotta be starting something

Now that you’ve booked your vacation and quit, you need a reason to bring work with you so you can “Work from the Beach” Land a contract, or start a new project that will require you to work during your vacation.

BOOM! You are no longer employed and working from the beach!

Shit, it’s raining, you’re just working from a coffee shop in the Carribean. At least, they have Ackee and Saltfish :)
