The Pursuit of Loch Ness

Happiness is the elusive Nessie we’re all chasing. But with all the routine chaos we face, we forget she’s been found in the seams of our everyday.

She waits patiently for hours on end until you’re home and rises to greet you with a depth and breadth of love no human could ever hope to have.

She’s that stranger you’ve only just met; the one who gave you his parking spot and would gladly give you the world if you asked.

She’s inside the envelope of pride that folds around you when you’ve earned what you’ve worked and scrimped for all this time.

She’s in your child’s tiny palm, asking you to hold her hand when you cross the street together.

She’s everyone you’ve ever met traveling, who will help you understand what you cannot make sense of, and who invites you into their home to meet their loved ones.

When laughter and fight songs bring brothers and families together during that big game, she’s there.

We’ve seen her in those who shamelessly own their own eccentricities. Those who refuse to live by the prescribed outlines and follow the light in their lives faithfully.

She’s left footprints behind those being genuine in the midst of a world that puts up walls: the pay-it-forward players, the listeners, the loyals.

She’s in the moment your blood, sweat, and tears mean more to someone else than they do to you.

She isn’t a gold rush or a trophy photo we’re all scrambling to claim. She isn’t in our accolades, our fifteen minutes of fame, or endless bucket lists. She isn’t anything more than simply trusting what is right in this world and repeatedly doing good.

Did you find this valuable or enjoyable? If so, tapping the little heart in the bottom left or sharing this post would mean a lot to me. Thanks for considering!
