In the past year, not much has been said from Apple. While the new iPhone has come out, bigger and without a home button apparently, from a new technology standpoint, Apple has seemingly been lacking. Could this be to focus on a self-driving car division?

Many sources say that as of the summer, Apple had received their autonomous testing permit from the DMV and already had a fleet of around 66 autonomous vehicles in California. Sources are unsure as to whether these vehicles and the technology Apple is building revolves around building a car itself or rather some type of autonomous driving software that could be integrated in many types of current vehicles. Currently Apple is rumored to be working on the latter option, and according to one analyst, will be able to provide “better integration of hardware, software, and services” than to that of competitors. This should come as no surprise, as the Apple brand has always been known for its seamless user experience.

Unfortunately, Apple has not made any exact statements on the matter, other than to say they are working on some autonomous system. While most information comes from various rumored sources close to Apple, I do wonder what is to come. They revolutionized the phone and communication industry with the iPhone, will the iCar do the same?
