The famous Black Friday and Cyber Monday is upon us, and if you have been around online long enough you know the big ecommerce and retail brands rake in revenues this season.
What you may not know is the level of planning, preparation and resources that go into taking on such a large seasonal campaign to make all that revenue and profit from their store.
In this brief article, I will take you through some quick tips and a checklist to follow to take advantage of this season for your business and make spectacular sales.
1. Announce your black Friday offer weeks before in an amazing way (you still have time now)
2. Write product descriptions that communicate and sell.
This is too important to rush over, often times we see short product description with little or no call-to-action or power words to entice the reader. All products descriptions must focus on the benefits to the customer, use natural language (basic english, no jargon), where possible tell a short story that relates with your target customer.
3. Better Social media captions.
Same for your social media posts, write several short captions and post the same product with a different photo and caption days before black Friday. Don’t expect just one post to do all the convincing and conversion, repetition is a well known tactics used by great sales men and women. Share consistently with a different caption, but same call to action — order now, link in bio to buy, tag a friend, etc.
4. Set appropriate discounts.
Set your revenue goal and calculate the appropriate discount you want to offer. Crashing your prices might not be good for business in the long term and thats not the purpose of Black Friday at least not for small businesses. You want to give a good discount that works for your business.
5. Sell better with product bundles.
Bundle products together and give a deal. In cases where you can’t afford to give a discount on one product, try bundling two or three products together for a single price offer. Take for example a dress maker, offering a work suit and two dinner gowns for a little less than if the customer ordered for each separately.
6. Warm up old customers.
Remind old customers to come shop a good deal during Black Friday. You can easily craft a simple email or whatsapp message to your list of past customer (please don’t spam people).
7. Choose your delivery partners.
Get your delivery options ready. While doing research for features to build into mulaa, we heard stories of how solopreneurs get frustrated by their delivery partners, have you been disappointed before?
Having more than 2 or 3 backup delivery partners will help manage the disappointment during high traffic season like Black Friday. You can take it a step further by reaching out to your delivery partners ahead and negotiating a deal on delivery terms (maximum wait time, delivery routes and best prices, etc).
In summary
Getting ready for big season sales shouldn’t be a pain, proper planning and engaging partners/customers early will make a lot of difference. Use the above tips, and if you have some tips of your own please reply and share (we most likely will do a followup with all your tips).
