It’s conference time! 🎉Conferences are an incredible time to connect with people IRL that you spend most of the year chatting with virtually. It’s a wonderful opportunity for personal development, building life-long friendships and reminding yourself why you love doing what you do.
No matter if you’re attending your first conference or a seasoned pro, packing can feel daunting. We asked some members of our community about what they never travel to conferences without. Read on, especially if you haven’t packed yet!
Bring your smile
“My favorite thing to bring is a smile and a friendly attitude! I want to meet ALL the people I can — especially first-time attendees! I love making everyone feel welcome and accepted. It’s a big commitment to come to a conference and it takes nothing extra to be kind. Be excited, smile and say hello to EVERYONE you meet!”
— Mandy Boling, has attended 7 conferences
Pack that travel kleenex!
“Tissues, always, as there comes a point during the weekend that I am so excited, happy, and proud, that I inevitably cry! And also dry shampoo for those late nights into early mornings and travel deodorant because you never know when you might need it!”
— Elisabeth Simmons, has attended 3 conferences
Plan out ALL the outfits
“Girl, do yourself a favor and plan ALL of your outfits down to the jewelry and shoes! Try to pick a pair of shoes you can wear with multiple outfits!”
— Aimee Keser, has attended 10 conferences
Be prepared & comfortable
“I am always prepared while traveling with business cards, samples, and opportunity packets! I also pack good shoes, blister bandaids, and a sweater for the cold AC in sessions.”
— Anne Ramos, has attended 8 conferences
BYOC: bring your own coffee
“I pack my own coffee packs and snacks because hotel coffee doesn’t make up for minimal sleep, and I’m not always hungry on the standard schedule when traveling across time zones.”
— Janessa Oriol, has attended 7 conferences
