Celebrating female authors for #womancrushwednesday

Every Wednesday during Women’s History Month, we featured a list of women we admire for #womancrushwednesday. For our last week of Women’s History Month, we’re sharing some of our favorite female authors as a collective group.

‘The Universe Has Your Back’ by Gabrielle Bernstein

“This book came out just before I had a solo work trip to the Ritz Carlton, Laguna Niguel several years ago. I didn’t have much time outside of my work duties but being able to curl up in a chair with the windows open and in a quiet space did wonders for me. I was able to devour the book over the course of the trip and walked away with a new outlook on life. I became more positive and open to new possibilities, many of which lead me to where I’m at today. If you’re stuck, this is the book for you, enjoy!”

“I have been a long-time fan of Deborah’s podcast of the same name. I love Deborah’s work because she acknowledges that ‘being a feminist’ can at times be difficult and/or confusing, and she has a knack for bridging high ideals to *practical* advice on how to approach feminism and activism for people who find such things intimidating.She makes me feel feminism is something I can apply in my daily life, rather than just something I aspire to.”

‘You Are A Badass,’ by Jen Sincero

“It was an easy read. It’s written in a very informal way, and it’s empowering for all. It’s definitely a great pick-me-upper for anyone who has had a rough time with self-esteem and self-confidence. It’s been over a year since I read it, but I’ll definitely give it a read one more time.”

‘Hyperbole and a Half,’ by Allie Brosh

“I’ve always been a fan of Allie’s webcomics and blog and went through a phase a few years ago where I was mostly reading memoirs and was so excited when this came out. Brosh is able to communicate a range of emotions — from giddiness to anger, with simple MSPaint drawings and text. When you’re flipping through the pages of text, you aren’t reading a re-telling of Brosh’s life experience…you’re living through it with her at the same time.”
