Do you do most of your reach outs for your direct sales business over email? Many direct sellers have shared feeling scared of sending texts to Customers in particular.
Did you know that SMS has a 98% open rate versus 20% for emails? We’re here to share that texting is a great way to build connections with your Customers. If you don’t have an easy way to text your Customers, we encourage you to give the Sell with AMI app a try.
Tips for texting with success
S: Short. Keep your message short — clear and concise is the best way to go. The rule of thumb is if it takes you more than 30 seconds to draft your text, it merits a phone call instead.
U: Understand your audience. Keep in mind that you are communicating with a potential client. Keep the tone professional and present yourself in a way that you can be taken seriously.
C: Communicate clearly. Avoid sarcasm, inside jokes or emojis that could be misinterpreted. Read your message back to yourself to check for clarity before hitting ‘send’.
C: Chill. If you don’t get a response as quickly as you’d like, don’t stress. Assume the recipient is busy and will get back to you when they’re able. Resist the urge to double text.
E: Etiquette. Address your contact directly, so they know the text they receive isn’t a generic message you send to multiple clients. Personalize when you can and where it’s appropriate. It’s why AMI’s default message templates automatically do this for you.
S: Send at the right time. Consider the timing of your message. If it feels too early in the morning or too late in the evening to contact someone about business, it probably is. Also, be mindful of possible time zone differences.
S: Support your pitch. Be prepared to answer follow-up texts with facts, links (like product wishlists) and information to make the sale.
