This 3-Pronged IG Growth Strategy is Not Everyone’s Cup of Tea
Long gone are the days when you could post something and go viral. Nowadays, that would be a dream seen by social media managers.
So, how do you build your social media profile from scratch to thousands of followers?
From my personal experience at Sellspell and closely working with several social media projects, these are the 3 things I feel every account should have as part of their strategy.
The 3-Pronged IG Growth Strategy
An accelerated content creation process
There are two ways you can gain followers.
One, you can buy them. Two, make a reel go viral.
Even though many go with the first step, the second one is more exciting and takes you to the depths of social media marketing.
Striving to achieve that goal will help you learn more about the algorithms, engagements, and the other aspects of attention economy.
So how do you make a viral reel?
Nobody knows. But if you ask an expert, they do several basic things to make their reels go viral.
Now, we will not talk about how to make a reel, the structure, the CTA, etc.
But what I’ll talking about is the overall birds eye view of the plan that you should be taking to achieve virality.
When you look at some of the best social media pages out there, they are doing the following things right
- Frequency, and
- Content relevance
Let’s talk about frequency first.
To have a viral content, you need to increase your frequency to increase your chances of going viral.
It’s like widening the area of fishing so that you can catch more fish rather than focus on a small area.
But then the question comes, should you focus on quantity or quality.
By keeping a basic quality, you should look at the number of reels you post and how frequently you post them.
Consistency > High Quality
The more you post, the more likely you are going to go viral one day.
The second thing is content relevance.
This is where the secret sauce is.
Ask yourself this question: How relevant is your latest post?
Whenever you are planning a content, there are three questions you should ask
- Is it relevant to a popular event? (National day, Mother’s day, etc.)
- Is it relevant to popular content? (A viral content)
These 2 questions are important because this has high chance of getting more engagements due to massive engagements already being pushed by the algorithm.
Now the next thing you need to focus on is:
How quickly can you recreate a viral content?
The faster you can recreate the viral content in your style, the faster you can jump on the bandwagon.
The more you wait, the less chance that you will go viral.
Your social media manager has to be constantly on the lookout for what’s working on the platform.
- What type of visuals are working?
- What format/template of content is working?
- Which music is trending?
The more in-depth the search goes, the better the content you will be able to make.
This is where the Accelerated Content Creation Process comes in. Once your social media manager finds a trend, you need to quickly create your own version of the trending content/video.
This means that you’ll have a huge chance of hitting it off with the algorithm.
Keep this in mind: ABC — Always Be Connecting. Whatever viral content comes your way, connect that to your offering, product, service and recreate the content.
2. Campaigns
Once you nail down ACCP, you need to run campaigns.
There are lots of campaign ideas out there.
- Tag to giveaway campaign
- Screenshot to giveaway campaign
- Tell Your Story campaign
- UGC content campaign.
Give free stuff and rewards to make people engage with your content.
This is one surefire way to gain lots of followers and when done right, you’ll be able to drive a better number of followers from your target audience as well, whom you can nurture and convert into a customer at a later stage.
3. Scale with Money
Everyone is competing for attention. Hundreds and thousands of pages are competing for a single person’s attention every day.
So you can either play the long game or you can play the efficient game, which is to be sure that you are reaching the right person.
This can be done through paid promotions of your posts.
Set aside a budget every month for this only.
This will help you experiment with new content formats by boosting them and seeing which ones are getting more engagement from the people you like to reach.
Once you find the ones with good engagement, create more of that content.
Some people think that boosting/promoting organic post is a dirty trick. But it’s far from the truth.
Great things happen when you invest your time, money and energy into it.
Just keep in mind the ultimate goal:
It’s to build a community that advocates and enjoys spending time with your brand.
So, if you are hell-bent on achieving your targets, then don’t be afraid to spend money.
You’ll be able to see growth at a faster pace.
