As the name goes, Malaysia was the host for the 29th SEA Games. Let’s go through some introduction :

not bad

Kuala Lumpur 2017 (KL2017) is the brand name of the 29th Southeast Asian Games and the 9th ASEAN Para Games. The Southeast Asian Games will take place between 19th and 31st August 2017.

Last time Malaysia reach the same Gold Medals was 16 years ago! Another Holiday perhaps? (Malaysian love holidays, as if they aren’t enough already)

But the one thing most Malaysians look forward to was a Gold Medal for the Harimau Malaya squad. *sobs*

They lost 1–0 to Thailand. 2001 SEA Games tragedy all over again. Great performance nonetheless, Silver is the new Gold.

A brief introduction of the event was done, let’s look into it’s Digital Side (the real stuff).

Overall, not a bad website, the efforts and initiatives are something to be proud of. Technologies used are not that backwards considering this is a national level event which is always handled by the Government. See builtwith report.

They also develop an App for the event (kudos!). Both on App Store & Play Store. I would never have thought that they are willing to spend some of the budget for App Development, well, at least based on the past events/experiences. Anyways, Good Job Malaysia/KBS (Kementerian Belia & Sukan)/ Ministry of Youth & Sports

Social Medias are not forgotten!

They also realize that it is important to also highlight the Virality power of social medias. As we are living in the great era of mobility & accessibility, simple & fast updates are the way to grab attentions even for the less-sporty individuals. The updates are relax & sporty, I love how updated I am about the event when I am at home washing dishes & doing laundry. You can be the judge of that, here is the list with links to the social pages:

They have all genres they are in Malaysia. Trying to please all type of supporters with different music taste.

BUT WAIT!

One thing that annoy most Malaysians especially football fans and me is the fact that Online Ticketing is not available for the Final Stage ! This is the response from YB Khairy Jamaluddin (Minister of Youth & Sports) :

BillPlz standing up for the Digital Community

This is something that needs to be one of the top priority for big events like SEA Games. You have thousands of passionate fans and you are not catering the ticketing platform & flow for the number one sport in Malaysia?

This has been paid with ULTRAS MALAYA snubbing the Final Stage altogether. Also known as the 12th player, they have been given so little credit and this is not they way to treat them!

This issue is also being brought up on the goal.com site. So please do something about it in the NEAR FUTURE!.

Solidariti from ULTRAS

That is all for now. Can’t wait for the Closing Ceremony tonight. Exit stage right!
