Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play baseball in the major league. He was very humble, and tough at the same time. Making it to the league is not an easy process, especially for Robinson. There was a lot of criticism and mean things done to him. For example, the movie “42” shows all of the things that happened in his life time. A group of whites showed up at his house to try and kill him, but he ended up getting away. Another, thing is when he would be hitting the catcher would spit on his shoes and the pitcher would try to hit him in the head with the pitch. At one point in the movie there was a kid that started cheering for Jackie Robinson because the African American crowd started cheering for him. His dad got really mad and started yelling at him and teaching him how to cus at Robinson. Even though Jackie was hated by a lot of people, his friends and family looked at him like a hero because the dodgers head coach thought he was good so it kind of opened the door of opportunity for African Americans. The dodgers didn’t like Jackie at first but they grew a good relationship with him because he was such a good baseball player. They would stand up for him and would get in fights almost every single game because the other teams hated Jackie. Jackie Robinson made a huge impact on the game of baseball. There is a lot more talent in the MLB right know than if only white people could play. Just think of how many foreign players are in the MLB. Most of them actually are probably not white.
