Depends on the type person you are, some people watch the beautiful game for the splendid skills and amazing goals. Although the majority of people look for the forward to blame for the ups and downs of a soccer club, I love to watch defenders and their amazing tackles and goal line clearances. Being an outside back for multiple years in real life before moving up to a winger, I have a-lot of bias for outside backs and how they play. Knowing this, my all time defenders when I was a kid was a Spanish outside back from Chelsea and a Brazilian center back from Chelsea.

César Azpilicueta- Chelsea FC and Spain

Cesar Azpilicueta, or better known as Dave, has been my favorite defender since I was young. Supporting Chelsea is a roller coaster when it comes to transfers and management and players wanting to leave, but nevertheless, Azpilicueta stays consitent. He has played nearly everywhere on the pitch besides forward and keeper, yet still performing just as good. He has not been as successful at the national level, yet still being capped 25 times for the Spanish national team.

David Luiz Moreira Marinho- Chelsea FC and Brazil

David Luiz plays polar opposite from Cezar Azpi, yet I admire him just as much as him. He is a showstopper, the one defender that plays the position with the fire as a forward. Sometimes he does get ahead of himself, but his moments of brilliances will be ones for the ages. For example, his goal line clearance vs Spain in the confederations cup (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOnZvS2A6kg). Also, his wonder freekick vs the underdogs, Colombia, in World Cup 2014 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTokplj-lGk). The way Luiz has played has revolutionized the position of center back, and his love for the game inspires me and everyone that watches him play.
