Previous Thoughts:
- Visually impaired wayfinding
- Tools that visually impaired use in their day to day life
- UPMC’s process in rehabilitation for the visually impaired
- UPMC’s services for the disabled
Affinity Map Interests:
Current Direction:
- Communication between the medical staff and the patients *
- Helping with the experience of patients, whether that is making the process more enjoyable or specifically targeting anxiety *
- Wayfinding of the visually impaired
Persona:
- Andrea is going to the UPMC for an eye check-up to make sure there is not a lot of damage (because recently she feels some discomfort).
- Andrea likes to be independent and views her service dog more as a partner than a tool to get around
- Some concerns: Is UPMC dog friendly? Is the waiting room comfortable for her and her dog (in case she does choose to bring her dog)?
- Andrea just moved to the area so how will she navigate through UPMC?
- Andrea is an active person so staying in a waiting room for hours or not being able to explore makes her uncomfortable.
- Andrea hopes that the desks or receptions at UPMC are at ideal height for her so she is confident she is speaking directly at a person.
- She hopes that there are separate elevators for transportation and that there is enough room for her where she goes so she is not worried about bumping into people.
- Andrea likes her space and wants to know that her space is being respected.
