“Creatives” some say they are a myth, some claim to the disbelief of others to have seen this rare breed of people.

Another person even claimed to *gasp* have talked to one of them. “Mr O. always had one or two screws loose in his brain”, said Mama B.

As she relentlessly chopped through her vegetables like she was the Supreme ruler in the land of vegetables. And I doubt the tears coming from her eyes was in sympathy for the poor things.

As I sat there pondering over this new mystery, a sudden idea like the lightning that flashes during a storm struck my mind. I resolved to meet and interact with these people and see if I could discover what makes them tick.

The journey across the different lands was long and hard but at the end of it, I discovered one simple truth that shocked me to the core of my being.

I will present how I arrived at this conclusion by interacting with some of them. Also, for their utmost privacy, I have substituted the names of people referenced with pseudonyms.

Fact 1: We are all born creatives

Without a doubt, each and every one of us is born with a spark of creativity in us. We just need to look to toddlers and children and watch them play and interact with their environment around them. The wonder and openness evident on their face is an expression of that.

You might be saying that is not possible but then we need to understand basically what creativity means. But sadly most of us either consciously or unconsciously have smothered this bright and burning flame as we grow up.

Fact 2: Be Open minded

Those who are creative are those willing to open their minds and absorb other points of view. They don’t see things as others will. They are those who notice patterns or hidden gems in Nature through their flexible way of studying.

They are dynamic and willing to adapt to various changes and truths. They are those who always seek to bring their dreams to reality. They are not content with only dreaming but won’t rest until they see their dreams come to fruition.

Fact 3: They are misunderstood because they are different

Most great minds and creatives are often misunderstood because their ways of thinking are so different from the norm.

“Can you believe those two brothers, they said that one day people will be able to fly like birds!!! Can you believe that!!” said Mrs A. shaking her head. “hmph can you believe what I just heard, Mr T said it is possible for us to carry the sun with us at night without the need for fuel. Ha! If that happens, call me a fool!!” said Mr P on his way back home.

But yet Man has now made it to the sky and even beyond. Man can talk with people over far distances. We can store our information on something long-lasting and yet less space-consuming than paper. We can travel faster than any animal through the use of mechanical machines.

And all these are a product of the weird ones, the ones who relentlessly pursued their dreams regardless of what others said, those who left behind the peace of their comfort zone and pushed into paths unknown. This is to the risk-takers, the daredevils, the bold ones, the unpopular people, the dreamers, the visioners, Thank you!.

And to all those reading this, I want you to know that you too can do it, that little dream you have always had but yet pushed aside because you were always afraid of what they will say, I urge you to rouse yourself and rekindle that fire and go out and do great and mighty things. And as I have discovered all great things begin with just a step.

I applaud you for boldly moving forward and I look forward to hearing from you on your journey to being a creative!
