Making anything compulsory might not sound good, but it is a good thing to encourage people to make valuable things habits for their benefit. In this story, I will introduce a company (Björn Borg) in Sweden that made exercise mandatory for its employees. Perhaps it is the first organization to make this unusual practice some admire and some detest.

In 2019, the company’s chief executive Henrik Bunge implemented a compulsory workout session every Friday at a gym near the office.

Mr. Bunge believed mandatory exercise would make employees more energetic, happier, and more productive, as they also process information better.

I watched several YouTube videos featuring Mr Bunge. One of my favorites is a recent interview with him titled ‘Without a goal and desire, no motivation’’. The 30 seconds of the video is in Swedish, but the rest is in clear English, giving valuable insights about the value of exercise.

I wish we could develop a pill that could give us all the benefits of exercise. It would be a miracle drug that could help us live longer, healthier lives.
