For as long as I’ve been having sex, I’ve dealt with depression. I believe every one of us deals with some form of depression at different points in our lives.

But for those of us who suffer from Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, or any other myriad diagnosis where depression is more than just a mood, it does more than interrupt a day or two in our lives.

When you feel as if getting out of bed is the most difficult task on earth, the thought of inviting someone else into your space might be the last thing on your mind. Hell, even engaging with yourself may not appeal.

There’s a never-ending battle between your libido and the physical and hormonal effects of stress and depression.

Depression can release hormones and chemicals that chase away your sex drive and even diminish your ability to enjoy sex. Mentally and physically, you become your own worst enemy when it comes to your sex life.

You just feel overwhelmed. When you feel overwhelmed, it’s difficult to enjoy yourself.
