When it comes to romantic relationships, there are a lot of moving parts. While communication should be the cornerstone of any relationship, when we’re talking about a romantic one specifically, sex is part of the glue that holds us together. If you’re in a relationship without sex, the frustration can spill over into other parts of your partnership and cause unending problems if it’s not addressed head on. This is where communication comes in.

Why Would You Be in a Relationship Without Sex?

A relationship without sex isn’t something we aspire to, so how does it happen? Oftentimes, in the beginning of a new relationship, we find ourselves in a honeymoon phase. Everything is shiny and new. This is a time to get to know one another, so we explore especially in a sexual way.

Once we’ve gotten past this phase, and some of the shiny wears off, life seems to get in the way of our sexuality. We don’t plan it, but things like having children, careers, and taking care of our home become much more of a priority than an exciting sex life.
