Known as the world’s largest hackathon, NASA Space Apps Challenge is attracting many students, professionals, and young minds which have one thing in common — enthusiasm about space. It is quite clear that we share the same passion, so we were more than happy to become a supporter of the Challenge.

This year’s international hackathon happened on April 29–30. It occurred over 48 hours all around the world and motivated its participants to address the challenges we face on Earth and in space. The theme for the challenges this year was Earth.

Among the participants, we don’t find just software developers and coders, but also people with other types of skills such as scientists, designers, artists, technologists, builders, project managers, educators, storytellers… They are all inspiring people to dream big and their hacks have a potential to grow into something with lasting impact.

At Sinergise we are thrilled to be part of this successful event. As a supporter, we provided Sentinel Hub services to hackathon participants, for processing and distribution of earth observation data. More than 40 locations around the world used this chance and created Sentinel Hub accounts for their teams. Most engaged were the teams from Brazil, followed by the teams from Netherlands, Australia, Burkina Faso, Italy, Argentina, India, Canada and Bolivia. Altogether, more than 1.4 million requests to our services were executed during the weekend.
