Sentinel-2 L2A products available on Sentinel Hub
After the pilot production of Sentinel-2 Level-2A products over Europe became available on the Copernicus Open Access Hub, you can now get the official L2A data also through the Sentinel Hub.
The Sentinel-2 L2A data is atmospherically corrected using Sen2Cor processor and PlanetDEM Digital Elevation Model (DEM). L2A products are published 48–60 hours after the L1C products and available for you to browse through EO Browser and other Sentinel Hub services.
The data available through Sentinel Hub is hosted by AWS and is available in original tiles for AWS users.
Atmospheric correction on Sentinel Hub
With the integration of the L2A products Sentinel Hub now allows you to explore and download the satellite imagery with two types of atmospheric correction. You can choose between the official L2A data available for wider Europe from March 28, 2017 onwards, or a run-time optimized statistical atmospheric correction, provided by Sinergise and available for the whole Sentinel-2 archive.
The difference between the L1C and L2A products:
- L1C products provide the top of atmosphere reflectances in fixed cartographic geometry. Images are tiles of 100 sq. km and the products contain applied radiometric and geometric corrections.
- L2A products provide bottom of atmosphere reflectances in cartographic geometry. This product is currently processed by ESA using a processor running Sentinel-2 Toolbox.
If you are interested in atmospherically corrected data using Sen2Cor over areas outside Europe, we offer on-demand processing as well. Contact us for more information!
