The launch of the second Sentinel-2 satellite will happen at ESA’s mission control on 6–7 March in Darmstadt, Germany. Lift-off is set for 01:49 GMT (02:49 CET), the early hours of Tuesday, 7 March, and flight teams at ESA’s mission control centre in Darmstadt will assume control of the satellite just an hour later.

Sentinel Hub will double the amount of data served

Sentinel-2A was launched on 23 June 2015, and its operational time is planned for 7 years. At the time being, the Sentinel Hub archive contains almost 1.6 million scenes from Sentinel-2A, with an average of more than 110,000* scenes added per month.

With the fifth of the Sentinel satellites of the Copernicus programme, Sentinel-2B satellite being operational, the amount of data served through our system will double in the future. That means even more possibilities for Sentinel Hub users.
