Sinergise’s subsidiary in Austria, Sentinel Hub VAS, is building new team for remote sensing applications
Join a successful business story as a full-time remote sensing junior engineer or front-end junior developer.
Sentinel Hub VAS GmbH, a subsidiary of Sinergise, is opening a permanent office in Graz / ESA BIC Austria, close to several other space start-ups, starting with a team of 3–5 young enthusiasts in remote sensing, in order to widen the reach of the Copernicus Masters award winning satellite imagery processing service, Sentinel Hub.
Sinergise is a 60-person SME from Slovenia with extensive expertise in developing advanced geospatial information systems based on cloud and web technology. After successfully completing several country-scale projects in Europe and Africa, we ventured in the space field, designing Sentinel Hub, a novel way to process Earth Observation data in the cloud, making peta-bytes of satellite data easily available to just about anyone in the world for the first time. The service is in operation for the last two years, powering hundreds of applications all around the world, processing more than 200 million requests every month and providing more than 10 PB of Sentinel, Landsat, MODIS and other data available to added value providers. Sinergise’s free web tools, EO Browser and Sentinel Playground, are used by enthusiasts exploring deforestation, military activity, natural disasters as well as simply observing the beauty of our Planet.
About Sentinel Hub VAS GmbH
One year ago, Sinergise recognised the potential of ESA Business Incubation Austria (ESA BIC Austria) and its strategic location next to some of the best engineering universities in Austria. To seize the opportunity, Sinergise established a subsidiary in Graz focused on the creation of Value Added Services (VAS) based on Sentinel Hub, starting with the familiar fields of agriculture and land administration but being not limited to these.
Sentinel Hub VAS GmbH successfully completed its first project and “graduated” in August 2019. The experiences gained confirmed our assumptions that this could be a good way to widen the reach of Sentinel Hub and we decided to start the growth process. We are building a group of 3 junior engineers, to form the core of the Graz’s team, with planned expansion to 5 people in a period of 12–18 months.
The team’s responsibility will be to build tools and services, which will be then available to all Sentinel Hub users to exploit. The Euro Data Cube and Blue Dot Water Observatory are examples of such services. The team will initially work under guidance of project manager from Sinergise but there is an objective to make the team self-sustainable and self-governing in 18–24 months.
Team members will work closely with Sinergise’s staff, starting with 6–8 weeks stint in Ljubljana, to get to know each other well, then continuing in Graz with one week per month in Ljubljana, paired with one week per month of someone from Sinergise in Graz. This kind of operations should ensure strong integration and deep understanding of the necessary technologies, so that the work could be done.
Join the Team in Austria
We are inviting young graduates interested in Earth Observation and remote sensing to join our team and to help us build the best possible tools for monitoring of our planet. You will have a chance to learn and cooperate in building a company from scratch in a very exciting and promising market.
Remote Sensing Engineer — Junior Position
We are looking for Remote Sensing Engineers, who will learn how to use Euro Data Cube tech stack to create added value services for our customers. If you have completed University Degree in a technical field, preferably Earth Observation Information Technology or Big Data, don’t miss this chance and send your application. We warmly welcome also recent graduates.
Front-end Developer — Junior Position
You can also join the team as Front-end Developer. We’re using React for web applications built on top of Sentinel Hub services and we need help expanding their features. We value your potential to learn new skills more than the skills you currently possess!
How to Apply
Submit your application (CV and motivation letter) before February 20th 2020 to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject “Application for Remote Sensing Engineer — Junior Position“ or “Application for Front-end Developer — Junior Position“. We look forward to hearing from you!
