The first 2 quarters of 2020 have been very eventful for us, at Uppsala Security. It was a period of intense development work, but at the same time of rewarding experiences as we were honored to receive recognition for our efforts from renowned industry experts such as Frost & Sullivan through the „2020 Asia-Pacific Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Security Technology Innovation Award“ and to partner with several respected and well renowned global companies in the technology and blockchain sector.

As a significant step forward for our project after looking back at all the work and products that we have built over the years, we decided to introduce a couple of changes in the upcoming month, when we will revise the product access for the Crypto Analysis Transaction Visualization (CATV) tool, the Crypto Analysis Risk Assessment (CARA) tool and API Services to only be accessible to on-boarded customers and community users who are holding UPP tokens.

Community users can continue to use the Sentinel Platform as it is and to submit indicators/ research as an individual, however, they will no longer have access to the CATV, CARA, and the API services.

The UPPward Browser Extension will continue to be provided free of charge to all users until further notice, as a recognition and appreciation towards our community.

In the upcoming month the Pre-Sentinel programs will also be terminated and Pre-Sentinel users will have their permission reverted to community users. Our whole team at Uppsala Security appreciates the community who participated in the Pre-Sentinel programs and we are very grateful for all the support that we received thus far. The reason for the before-mentioned changes is due to business demand and analytic works which will require privacy and non-disclosure conditions — measures which cannot be carried out by Pre-Sentinel users who are not part of our legal company structure.

Even though we are happy to say that we reached a stage where we have enough resources to conduct the research and analysis by our own internal research and operations team, our philosophy is still built on data crowdsourcing and thus we encourage both Pre-Sentinels and community users to continue to bring their valuable contribution to the decentralized space by reporting and sharing threat intelligence data through the Sentinel Portal.

Community users who are interested to continue to have access to our CATV/ CARA/ API products or services will have the option to do so by participating in our UPP token holding program. Users will need to stack 100,000 UPP tokens in the wallet of their choice and register the wallet address in their user profile on the Sentinel Portal. Our platform will automatically check the UPP token balance for access permission. Community users who will keep holding the UPP tokens will gain permission for accessing the products with normal user limits.

The above mentioned changes will take effect from July 31st, 2020 onward.

In order to answer a few questions that might arise from the previously announced changes, we have prepared a short FAQ section, as follows.

  1. Why 100,000 UPP tokens?

We feel that this is a fair commitment to ask from the community members that are going to use our products (free of charge but with limits) while also fulfilling the utility purpose of the UPP token. As long as the amount is stacked, the community users can continue to use CATV, CARA and API services for free with all the upgrades we will release in the future.

2. How many community users are able to hold the tokens for access?

At our total circulating token supply, there should only be slightly over 4.000 individuals with such access.

3. What if a community user registered another wallet that does not belong to him/her?

As per our Term of Use, this is considered a violation of the rules and we reserved the rights to suspend the access and conduct investigations. Users involved will be asked to provide details or actions to prove their ownership of the wallet address or account.

4. Is this program available also for Enterprise users?

No. Enterprise customers will need to go through the onboarding process with our Business Development team to gain access to our products and services.

5. Can I use the token holding program access for my organization?

Any user that participates in the token holding program that is found to utilize the product NOT for personal use, could be subject to legal actions and have their access suspended.

6. Is the required token holding amount going to change in the future?

If it will be the case, we will change the requirement as needed based on the market value. Any changes of the required token holding amount will be announced in advance.

7. Is this considered as a payment for the service?

No, this is not a payment for the service. The UPP token ownership will be 100% of the community users who are holding it and Uppsala Security does not take any token from the program as any form of payment.

8. Could I withdraw the UPP tokens from the registered wallet anytime?

Yes, you can withdraw or transfer out the UPP tokens from the wallet at any time and the portal access will be reverted back to “community user” when our system will detect that there is not enough balance in the registered wallet.

For any other question that we might not have covered in this article, please address them on the Uppsala Security Forum and our team will be happy to answer.
