In preparation for Sentinel’s upcoming dVPN Utility Airdrop, version 0.0.5 of the dVPN Node docker image has been released. Existing dVPN Testnet nodes are required to update as soon as possible to support the latest features.

Users are welcome to setup a dVPN Node to share bandwidth to the Sentinel TestNet on Ethereum. Sentinel dVPN node installation instructions can be found here.

Information on the latest version of docker can be accessed from the Docker Hub.

What’s new?

The latest release of Sentinel’s dVPN contains:

1. Support for clients that use IPv6, as well as IPv4.
This ensures that mobile phones and other devices using IPv6 connections route through the dVPN, and that incoming requests go through the node.

2. Ability to participate in the dVPN Lite Network
Nodes that install the latest update have the opportunity to be part of the Android dVPN Lite Network which enables free network access to end-users without the need for any cryptocurrency tokens. Node hosts that share bandwidth to the Lite Network earn additional node reputation and thereby increase their chances to receive delegations when Sentinel utilizes a delegated Proof-of-Stake consensus algorithm to secure the network.

Docker node configuration options now include option to participate in the dVPN Lite network.

3. Shareable version metadata
Nodes can now share version information with clients, enabling users to prioritize nodes running the latest software.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Sentinel community for continuing to support the Sentinel Network. Your efforts in running Sentinel TestNet Nodes are invaluable for the development of tested and proven technology at the forefront of the privacy revolution.
