Sentinel Mainnet Foundation Validator Delegation Criteria
The primary purpose of this blogpost is communicate the criteria by which the Foundation behind Sentinel’s decentralized ecosystem will be making delegations to validators on Sentinel’s native Cosmos-based chain.
Expansion of the Validator Set
Sentinel’s mainnet launched on the 27th of March with a max validator set of 50 validators. The proposal to expand the max validator set from 50 to 64 validators was recently approved.
The proposal can be found at https://www.mintscan.io/sentinel/proposals/1, and was created by the validator ITAStakers.
Increasing the validator set allows more participants to enter the governance structure and increases the overall decentralization of the network. It is the Foundation’s responsibility to ensure that the network is democratic and that all entities participating in the governance structure are contributing back to the network in a meaningful and effective manner.
Foundation Delegation Criteria
A validator is not just an entity which hosts a server that confirms transactions on the network, a validator is an entity/group of people that contributes to a decentralized ecosystem in addition to maintaining high quality security standards while also participating in governance matters with an unbiased standpoint.
Validators which expect to receive a delegation from the foundation must maintain a maximum staking commission of 5%, and a minimum staking commission of 1%.
The foundation’s delegation decisions are politically agnostic. It goes without saying that the Sentinel ecosystem is one of virtue which is focused on bringing freedom of data exchange to people all over the globe, so the foundation will not exclude any particular community.
The key criteria for evaluation of delegations from the Foundation include:
- Technical/Ecosystem contributions to the Cosmos Network or other decentralized networks in the Cosmos Ecosystem
- Technical/Ecosystem contributions till date to the Sentinel Ecosystem
- Plans for future technical/ecosystem contributions to the Sentinel Ecosystem
- Past participation/Plans for future participation in Sentinel’s bandwidth monetization economy (e.g hosting of a node, deployment of a white-labelled dVPN)
- Validator Experience and Technical Architecture/Security Standards
- Access to notable influencers and distribution channels that have the ability to bridge our message to other communities
Delegation Application Form
The Foundation will begin its re-delegation after the 1st of May and the submission form is open from today, the 20th of April, and will be closed on the 30th of April.

The delegated amount to validators, apart of the active set of 50 validators, may be increased or decreased by the Foundation.
Delegations from the Foundation are not seen as permanent obligations, the Foundation has a right to remove delegation from validators who are jailed due to malicious intent or validators who experience a significant degree of down-time without being responsive.
