InfoCorp Welcomes Chris Ong

InfoCorp group (of entities) is delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Ong as -
1. Advisor, Audit for InfoCorp Foundation and
2. Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of InfoCorp Technologies overseeing all financial-related affairs.
Over the past 30 years, Chris has been building his expertise; initially in assurance audits in the London office of Arthur Andersen, then in internal audit as well as risk management and governance, in both professional firms and multinational conglomerates. He has consulted and worked in the fields of financial services; manufacturing and supply chain management; real estate, hospitality, media, oil and gas, and natural resources.
Chris was the managing partner for enterprise risk services at Deloitte Beijing and head for risk management for Northern China from 2005 to 2008. His successes in China included overseeing major US and Japan Sox projects, and delivering the inaugural internal audit transformation project for a leading Chinese bank with over 2000 internal auditors on its payroll. He was also consulted for a Key Performance Indicators project for their Human Resource function at the same bank.
When he was Vice President of Internal Audit at leading Asian bank UOB Group, Chris audited UOB Plaza, one of three tallest architectures in Singapore. He also headed the internal audit function for real estate conglomerate City Developments Group, entity under Hong Leong Group. In that capacity, he audited the city’s other skyscraper, CDL’s flagship building, Republic Plaza.
Before joining InfoCorp, Chris was Principal Management Consultant with SharpBender Management Consultants, a regional business and financial management consulting firm known for its strengths in technology, marketing, strategic business planning, financial management and raising finance, business process management, governance, risk and controls. In this capacity, he took up CFO role in a major internet travel business, overseeing finance and accounting, legal and taxation, human resources as well as fund raising.
A thought leader in the China governance and risk management space, Chris’ opinion is widely sought by leading publications, and he is also a prominent speaker at professional forums and conferences in the Asian region.
With a Bachelor of Science with honours in Accounting and Computer Science from Leeds University, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dubuque, he is also a Fellow Chartered Accountant in England and Wales; a Chartered Accountant in Singapore; and a Certified Internal Auditor. Chris is captivated by the charm of languages; his current repertoire includes fluent Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), English, French, Japanese and Indonesian. He is also trying to learn Russian and Korean.
