The prestigious role of a Sentinel Chain Ambassador means he or she carries the commitment to champion the mission of financial inclusion and contribute his or her expertise to improve the lives of the unbanked through the technology of Sentinel Chain.

So, as Co-founder of Cryptologic and CEO of BitSign, Bernardo will certainly be very busy as he volunteers in his free time to:

  • Making a difference to his community or field of work
  • Enhancing the reputation of Sentinel Chain
  • Accelerating financial inclusion through technological innovation
  • Improving the lives of the unbanked in the Latin America region

1. Can you give an introduction of yourself?

My background is in law & economics. I love doing researches about finance and technology. I am co-founder of Cryptologic, a consultant firm involved in several projects related to fintech and blockchain. I am also university professor and I usually give conferences about cryptoeconomy. The most important thing for me, is to bring the power of knowledge and technology on the practical field to help people.

2. How did you come across the Sentinel Chain?

I met Roy Lai, over a year ago; he told me about Infocorp’s development mainly focused on financial inclusion for ASEAN farmers and he invited me to join them as an advisor. After knowing him, as well as the working style of Infocorp’s team and the Sentinel road map, I had the conviction that this development was going to be a good shaking for the financial status quo, not just for ASEAN, but also South America.

3. Why do you want to become an Ambassador for Sentinel Chain?

I deeply share Sentinel’s philosophy. I think that the primary commitment for technology is to help the most needed people to live a better life. I am convinced that blockchain has the power to do this and Sentinel may be one of the best cases to demonstrate it. I’ll enjoy helping to spread this powerful project all around Argentina and South America.

4. Can you tell me more about the problems that Sentinel Chain can help to solve for your country?

Argentina, a member of the Mercusor* group of countries, is extremely renowned for its livestock population and its livestock industry. In 2016, the number of livestock within the Mercusor countries (South America’s most important economic area) stood at 300 million, with the majority comprising of cattle. To understand the potential and importance that this project has for the small farmers within this region, 40% of the primary producing of the livestock are by these small farm producers who each owns less than 10 cattle. That gives us approximately an astounding 12 million small farmers across the Mercusor region! Unfortunately, trade talks between different policymakers brought comprehensive financial support to a halt. The lack of banking services and tools threaten many people and future generations to a lifetime of poverty. In the rural population of South America, the number of unbanked population is above 70%. I have no doubt that Sentinel Chain will truly help to close the gap and take many of these people out of this vicious cycle. However, it will be an enormous challenge, and one that I would execute with enormous pride.

5. What is the first thing you will do as the Ambassador for Sentinel Chain?

My first mission will be to keep spreading the Sentinel project around Argentina and South America, through conferences and articles, as I have been doing for some time. I will meet strategic people who are working in the different areas (such as the financial & insurance sectors, livestock producers, and start ups) and will try to pull these resources to think about a common addressable goal for financial inclusion to empower livestock-producing rural families. I will set up a team to travel around my country promoting a campaign aimed at educating and showing farmers how important Sentinel’s technology could be for them. I’ve got a lot of ideas and I am very excited to put them into practice!

* Mercusor group of countries — Its full members are Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Venezuela is a full member but has been suspended since December 1, 2016. Associate countries are Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and Suriname. Observer countries are New Zealand and Mexico.
