OMG there are sooooo many features! This guide is part two of our series of posts that cover the features of Sentio Desktop. These posts are aimed at helping every user get the most out of their Sentio Desktop experience. Be sure to check out the other parts for more features.

Let’s jump right in to some of the features offered by Sentio and how you can use them.

Wi-Fi

Wifi Panel

Sentio allows you to quickly change your Wi-Fi within the app. Here, you can connect, disconnect, toggle, and see more info on all of the wifi networks without ever needing to leave Sentio.

LIMITATION: We currently only support basic connection types. More complicated configurations must go to the Android Settings.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth Panel

Sentio also allows you to quickly change and connect to different Bluetooth devices. You can save or remove Bluetooth devices once connected.

LIMITATIONS: Bluetooth on Android differs by device. Some devices have difficulty connecting and may even error. Sentio works hard to account for all of these nuances, but sometimes it is beyond our ability to fix. In these cases, you should use Android’s Bluetooth Settings.

Auto Force Close Third-Party Apps

Force close app feature

One of the limitations of Android is that once an app is fullscreen, it cannot go back to a multi-window without being closed first. To solve this, Sentio has the ability to force close these apps, but only if you want to do so. This settings is found under All Settings in the Sentio Settings Panel.

Auto closing apps allows Sentio to open the Android Settings screen and click “Force Close” on the app. This way, the next time you launch the app, it will be able to open in multi-window mode.

Back to desktop on the left / Force close app on the right

If the feature is disabled (default state) then you will see the action button on the left. The yellow minus button means that the app will minimize and the user will go back to the desktop. The red x button means that the app will be force closed when you click the button and you will be bought back to the desktop.

LIMITATION: At times, the force close becomes stuck. This happens when Sentio cannot find the correct screen to force close in Android Settings. This feature is intended to help you automate the force close process. Ideally, we would like to close the app ourselves, but there is currently no API to do so.

Force Close Sentio Desktop

Force close at the bottom

Another feature is the ability to force close the Sentio Desktop. Think of this as the Ctrl+Alt+Del on Windows. Note that this is different that auto force closing third-party apps.

You can find the force close button at the bottom of the Sentio Settings panel. This will kill the app process. It will completely restart the Sentio Desktop, just like Force Close in the Android Settings.

LIMITATION: This does not always fix all of the potentially strange or weird state. This only fixes Sentio Desktop, but does not extend to other apps on your device. For other apps, you will need to go into the Android Setting screens and click Force Close. In the worst case, you may need to reboot the device.

Conclusion: Part 2

That wraps up this part of the feature showcase and limitations. We hope this guide will give you a better understanding of the features and a more productive desktop experience.
