I was so curious about why my professor will let us visit Daily Telegraph. And the answer is in this article. I found everything in there awesome and I have to write something down and share with more people. This might be the future and the new trend for news and people’s life.
We took some pictures in front of the logo and its open office because we do not know when we will come back. But if I have a chance work there, it will be perfect. As you can see, the office is very large, all departments are in this place. On the left hand side, there is an area surrounded in a circle, it is the central island of the office, where editors are all there. The rest of the departments are spread around the island. I think this structure can help everyone works more efficiently. News happens quickly as well as it should be published quickly. So each department can access to any other departments instantly, and communicate without any physical obstacles in an open area. I like this office structure a lot.
After visiting the open office, the guide took us to a show room where I saw how new technology connects with news. The two pictures above is the ‘Breakfast Table’. You can just put a cup of coffee or tea on the table, different sections of news will come out. Then you can select any section you like, for instance, the comment. The whole passage will show on your table, you can read while drinking or eating your breakfast. It is so convenient.
This video demonstrates how it works. If you like sports news, just drag it to the central of the table, it will then show the whole page and cover the others. Then you can open it and continue to read all the sport news.
