I’m pleased to announce that september.works is now live! We’ve been working away at it for the last couple of months and are excited to share it with you. As part of the introduction, I’d like to share some thoughts on our approach to design and what motivates us.

Stories Build Empathy

We love a good story: a story that brings you into its universe, full of mundane details and massive disruptions. We love a story with rich and complex characters. Characters that we can see pieces of ourselves reflected in, that allow us to contemplate inward. And we love the opposite: characters whose experiences, thoughts, and feelings, we could have never imagined. It’s these characters that encourage us to broaden our understanding of the shared human condition and all its variations. It’s these characters, especially, that we find a chance to expand our capacity for empathy.

Storytelling is a Tool

Stories are at the core of September Works design process. Whether it’s a brand or a product, something new or something reimagined, stories are how we bring teams and disciplines together around a shared sense of empathy for the challenges, hopes, and minutia of everyday users. Stories bring balance to utility and emotion because they connect us with our users.

What’s Your Story

Let us help you design for the full human condition. Whether you want to explore new opportunities, make better decisions, understand your audience, increase engagement, or just plain old beat the competition, we’re ready to collaborate. Drop us a line. We’d love to hear your story.

Say hello
