Despite the fact that the vast majority of indie founders experience some form of mental health issue, there is still a lot of stigma surrounding these topics. This is likely because mental health is not something that is openly discussed within the startup community, even though it should be. It’s hard to overstate how important mental health is to a startup founder. Your startup is your baby, and you’re constantly making life-or-death decisions that affect its survival. You’re also under constant stress, working long hours, and dealing with uncertainty and rejection on a daily basis. It’s no wonder that so many founders experience mental health issues.

Ironically, running a startup is analogous to dealing with mental illness in that they are both characterized by a lot of stress, uncertainty, and long hours. They are also both things that can be extremely difficult to talk about. Startups are also like dealing with mental illness in that they can be extremely isolating experiences. When you’re dealing with a mental illness, it can be hard to reach out to others for help. This is also true of startups. When you’re dealing with a startup, you’re often working on something that is very new and very different from what others are working on. This can make it difficult to find people who understand what you’re going through.

Despite the challenges, many entrepreneurs still persevere and find great success with startups/side projects. Startups can be incredibly rewarding experiences, both personally and professionally. They can provide a sense of purpose and accomplishment, and they can also be a great source of financial stability. In addition, startups can be a powerful force for good in finding the most effective way for helping others and putting them into practice.
